Anticipating the potential strain on Gibraltar's healthcare system, the government took proactive measures by establishing the Emergency Nightingale Hospital Facility. This strategic move was a preemptive step to prevent overwhelming the Gibraltar Health Authority (GHA) and guarantee prompt medical care for COVID-19 patients.
Nursing Support from the UK
Recognising the scarcity of nurses in the United Kingdom, the GSLP-led government took decisive action to address the shortage in Gibraltar. Additional nurses were flown in from the UK, providing essential support to the dedicated healthcare professionals in Gibraltar during a critical period.
Ventilator Procurement
Amid a worldwide shortage of ventilators, the GSLP-led government successfully secured a substantial quantity of these life-saving devices. This acquisition bolstered Gibraltar's preparedness to provide crucial respiratory support to COVID-19 patients.
